Latex Modified Concrete Mixer

The latex modified Zim-Mixer is a unit designed for a particular application. Latex Modified Concrete (LMC) is primarily used as bridge deck overlay material, but may also be found in applications where waterproofing is required. The latex modified Zim-Mixer, carries all of the necessary ingredients on-board, and is equipped with components that meet or exceed all LMC standards. These include; ASTM C685/C 685 M; AASHTO M 241; VMMB 100-01and ACI 304.6, for volumetric concrete mixers, and ACI 548.4 the Standard Specification for LMC Overlays).

Description of the Machine

The latex modified Zim-Mixer is designed to produce LMC at a rate of 30 cubic yards per hour. Latex modifier, water, and admixtures are controlled with fast acting electronic solenoid valves, ensuring that all materials start and stop simultaneously. The mixer is commonly powered by a diesel engine with a four section hydraulic pump and air compressor.

This Zim-Mixer has a 500 gallon stainless steel latex tank. This feature reduces the frequency of loading and insures ample supply of the latex modifier. The latex system also has a hydraulically driven latex pump with dedicated controls and pressure gauge. The latex delivery line has a filter, pump recycle relief valve, totalizer, metering valve, flow meter, pressure warning gauge with a light alarm, and a water flush system. A 300 gallon stainless steel water tank is standard equipment. The water deliver circuit includes; filter, hydraulically driven pump with dedicated controls, pressure gauge totalizer, flow metering valve, flow meter, and a washout hose.

Various cement bin sizes are available, with an air load kit. This air load kit enables the cement to be filled directly from a cement tanker. The aggregate bin has two sand bin vibrators and more may be easily added. Unit configurations are available up to 14 yards. The unit comes standard with two admix systems, material feed tachometer, five work lights, and a strobe light.

Patented dual chain material feed system (unique only to the Zim-Mixer® brand!) which is the most accurate in the industry, is self cleaning, the longest lasting, and has the ability to run any material individually.

Diesel Engine Package

Stone Bin Vibrators

2 vibrators will be added to the stone bin side of the aggregate bin.

Cement Air Load

This option allows the cement bin to be air-loaded directly from a cement tanker.

Admixture Systems

Allows the use of liquid admixtures such as Air Entraining Agents, Water Reducers, Super Plasticizers, Accelerators, and Set Retarders. A holding tank is loaded with the liquid, and charged with air pressure from the Mixer Unit. Each tank has an inline Filter, and an electrically triggered valve. This is integrated with the Material Feed Valve to allow the flow of material to stop and start with the other mix ingredients. Flow Meters are sized to meet the delivery requirements of the product being used, with ranges from 1 ounce to 3.5 gallons per minute. Each Flow Meter is certified to meet the tolerance requirements of ASTM, +/- 3%. There are no pumps to flush or maintain, and the air pressure can be used to evacuate the lines for easy draining and cleaning of the system.

         Low Flow Admixture System- For use with admixtures requiring lower dosages, a 20 Gallon Galvanized Tank is used (with a Stainless Steel Tank Optional) and a Flow Meter sized to meet the desired delivery rate.

         High Flow Admixture System- For use with admixtures requiring higher dosages, a 42 Gallon Galvanized Tank is used (with a Stainless Steel Tank Optional) and a Flow Meter sized to meet the desired delivery rate.

    

Manual Chute System

This Chute System is standard equipment on all 400N1 series units. It is attached to the auger, and takes up no space on the decks of the unit. When in use, the discharge angle is adjustable, and the chutes can extend from 4 to 8 feet in six inch increments, allowing for a wide area of coverage. Since it is attached to the auger, it is moved by the Operator and requires no additional personnel.

Hydraulic Power Telescopic Chutes

This Chute System allows the Operator to change the angle of delivery as well as the length of the chute from 5 to 11 feet in any increment required. It is especially useful in flatwork applications, as a large area can be placed without moving the mixer, and without the need of additional personnel. As with the Manual Telescopic Chutes, it is attached to the Auger and takes up no space when not in use.

Swivel Chutes

This Chute System allows concrete to be placed in areas not reachable by fixed chutes. As with the other ZI Chute Systems, it is attached to the Auger and takes up no additional space on the unit when not in use, and requires no additional personnel. A ring is used at the top of the chute, and allows rotation in a 200 degree arc. This enables the concrete to be placed alongside the mixer, and is especially useful in curbing or trenching applications. The Chute angle is adjustable, and it is in a 2 piece configuration that can extend to either 5 feet or 10 feet from the end of the Auger.

Pump Chute

This Chute is designed to aid in the placing of material into a concrete pump, wheelbarrow, or buggy. The lightweight 18 inch long chute quickly attaches to the discharge end of the mix auger, and minimizes any spills as well as simplifying wash out.

Spot Light Package

Provides light for nighttime operation. Lights illuminate the operator's control panel area, the aggregate bin material discharge area, and the work area.

Ticket Printers

         VR Ticket Printer- Resettable mechanical counter with a non-resettable totalizer. The totalizer is useful for scheduling periodic maintenance. This ticket printer provides an immediate record of the concrete delivered.

Digital Metering System

With our Digital Metering System, there is no longer a need to convert a count number, with many variations for mix designs, into cubic yards. Our units are able to show the operator, as well as the customer, an actual reading of cubic yards produced at any given moment. The LCD panel at the operator's station shows the cubic yards produced on a continual basis.

Our in cab Interface Panel stores all of the necessary information that the operator needs, along with the current yardage being produced. Gate settings for aggregates, flow meter readings for admixtures (as many as 6), and specified strength for up to 99 mix designs can be stored. If so desired, the panel can also store the quantities per yard of each component of all 99 mix designs and can be printed on each ticket.

The in cab printer can be loaded with the name, address and phone number of the producer, as well as the actual yardage produced. The mix design can also be printed for D.O.T. requirements. The printed receipt is available in 1 or 2 part format, so that the customer can be given a copy. The system also produces a cumulative record of production for inventory control or maintenance purposes. The information is stored on a removable memory card and may be downloaded directly to a computer via a USB cable.

Bin Liner

An acrylic-reinforced aliphatic aromatic polyurethane coating applied to the inside of the aggregate bins to prevent bin abrasion, bin corrosion, and permit smooth flow of aggregates.

Electric Recoil Tarp

In cab switch provides easy operation to cover & uncover the aggregate bin. Most states require bin to be covered when loaded.

Aggregate Bin Screens

Prevents possible damage of equipment by screening materials through a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" (63.5mm x 63.5mm) opening. All units sold outside the United States will be equipped with bin screens.

Latex & Water Tank Deck Fill Port

Provides deck level fill port for the water and latex tanks. Prevents operator from having to climb on top of unit to fill the tanks. Uses 1-1/2" (38.1mm) coupling.

Hydraulic Oil Cooler

This option can be added when high ambient temperatures are common. The radiator will help keep the hydraulic oil cool, extending the life of critical hydraulic components.

Stainless Steel Bins

This option includes the cement bin, aggregate bin, and mixer main frame being manufactured of grade 304 stainless steel. It provides the owner confidence that corrosion will not deteriorate the mixer regardless of environmental conditions.
